Juan Gil Silver Label Monastrell 2021

This wine is produced from estate Monastrell vineyards that are 52-55 years old, planted in chalky, stony, poor soils. The grapes are harvested by hand and then an optical sorting machine is used to select the best berries. Maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks before being transferred to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and 12 months aging.

Ripe dark berries, black plums and cherries, floral notes and a touch of smoke. Rich with silky tannins on the mid-palate and a long, spicy finish with lingering juicy fruit.

Critical Acclaim

93 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

2021 is a cooler and fresher year than 2020, even though both were very good. The 2021 Juan Gil (silver label) feels more harmonious, complex and deep than the 2020, as I noticed in most wines when I tasted both years; it’s longer and more elegant, very clean. It has similar parameters but the perception is fresher. It matured in French oak barrels.
