Yalumba “Museum Reserve” Antique Tawny NV 375ml
Yalumba first began making wines at the Angaston winery 175 years ago, and the production of fortified wines has long been part of that history. Today, Yalumba maintains its reputation for premium quality fortified wines by occasionally releasing very small parcels of show reserve stocks.
This velvety wine is blended from antique barrels of the very best tawny. The aging process evaporates a tiny angel’s share every year leaving a rich, concentrated wine with a nutty character. Classic dried fruit flavors, notably prunes, dates and figs, with nutty chocolate and spice. The fine brandy spirit provides a classic, drying finish.
Enjoy with hard cheddar, figs, and ice cream. Can be served chilled. Refrigerate after opening to maintain freshness.
Critical Acclaim
93 Vinous
Dark amber. Nutty, tangy and fresh on the nose, with exotic aromas of candied orange, toffee, cherry pit and raspberry. Wild, exotic and compelling; a riot of sweet, nutty fruit flavors in conjunction with a viscous texture. The finish is enlivened by refreshing acids. This is really suave.
92 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The Non-Vintage Museum Reserve Antique Tawny is medium amber-colored with aromas of ginger, figs and dates. Intense, ripe, and very sweet, it will finish off your meal in style.
92 Wine Enthusiast
Comes across as slightly spirity on the nose, with a pronounced nutty character that persists throughout, but which is balanced by layers of dark toffee, molasses and date-like fruit on the palate. This is rich and sweet, with great intensity on the finish.
