Chateau Chantalouette Pomerol 2015

An attractive bright red, the wine has an intense nose on black fruit aromas, a sign of good maturity. The supple attack leads into a mid-palate on black fruit flavours together with hints of roasted coffee beans, while the finish is long and elegant. Altogether, this is a well-balanced, succulent and smooth wine.

Château Chantalouette, the second wine of Château de Sales, is made using the same methods in the vineyard and in the winery as for the first wine. It is made from a second selection, after that which makes up the first wine. A round and fruit-forward wine, it is attractive to younger consumers, who do not always identify with more structured wines.

Château de Sales is a Bordeaux producer and the largest estate in the Pomerol appellation. It produces Merlot-dominant blends with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and is known as one of the few estates in the region with the kind of historic building more commonly associated with the châteaux of the Médoc.

One of Bordeaux’s biggest names, the Pomerol appellation and wine region is arguably the figurehead of the region’s so-called “Right Bank”, Merlot-based wines.
