Chateau des Eyrins La Closerie des Eyrins Margaux 2020
Blueberries and plums with spice box and dried herb aromas. Opulent and approachable with tart red fruit; pomegranate, hints of licorice and allspice mingled with grippy tannins in the balanced finish.
Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel tanks, then macerated for 21 days. 50% aged in used oak barrels, 50% in tanks for 18 months.
The three-hectare estate is well situated on a hillside plateau in the heart of the Margaux appellation on the left bank of the Gironde River. This .9-hectare parcel is on the famous plateau du Moulin – a triangle that is surrounded on two sides by the vines of Chateau Margaux itself.
One of the stellar regions of the Haut-Médoc, Margaux boasts a host of blue-chip châteaux, dominated by the eponymous First Growth: Château Margaux.
Margaux is an important appellation in the Haut-Médoc district of Bordeaux, southwestern France. Located 25 kilometers (15 miles) north of the city of Bordeaux, the appellation is famous for producing supple, perfumed red wines, predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon, which can show excellent structure and longevity.
