Product details
Dry Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 reflects both the pioneering spirit and evolving excellence of this family-owned Sonoma winery. Founded in 1972 by David S. Stare as the first new post-Prohibition winery in Dry Creek Valley, Dry Creek Vineyard ignited a renaissance in the region and remains at the forefront of sustainable, terroir-driven winemaking. Now led by second-generation owner Kim Stare Wallace, the winery oversees 185 acres of estate vineyards, crafting varietal wines that capture the valley’s distinctive character. Though Dry Creek Valley is celebrated for Zinfandel, nearly as much Cabernet Sauvignon is planted, with the valley increasingly recognized as an undiscovered gem for producing some of California’s finest expressions of the varietal.
The 2021 vintage is a lush and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon that unfolds with inviting aromas of plum, blackberry, and cranberry, layered with bay leaf, sage, and white pepper. On the palate, this full-bodied wine delivers rich flavors of black currant and black cherry, accented by subtle notes of herbes de Provence, mocha, fine leather, and a touch of earthiness. Firm tannins provide a well-structured backbone, while the plush palate and rounded mouthfeel make the wine accessible in its youth yet ideal for cellaring. This versatile Cabernet pairs beautifully with grilled steaks, roast lamb, venison, and hearty braised dishes, and its balance and depth make it equally enjoyable as a contemplative glass on its own.
