Islay Scotch masters, Laphroaig Distillery, released a small number of bottles of their 16 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky back in 2015 in celebration of the distillery’s 200th anniversary. Due to the overwhelmingly favorable response from fine whisky drinkers the world over, they’ve decided to offer another opportunity to experience this mellow expression of their traditional malt. A combination of oak richness and vanilla along with hues of leather greet the senses with a first whiff of this pure whisky. The palate awakens to the taste of treacle over caramel twists with a tide of deeply sweet Manuka honey. A parade of baking spices along with hints of thyme and creosote hazed with smoke soon follow and gather at the door of rich bergamot spice and chili heat.
