Named after Kiichiro Iwai, known as “The Silent Pioneer of Japan Whisky,” and the former mentor of Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka and Suntory Whisky, Iwai Tradition is a superb blended whisky, comprised of both single malts, grains, and blended whiskies. Produced from Japan’s most lofty distillery, Shinshu Mars, located 798 meters above sea level, this blended whisky is aged in a combination of ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, and ex-wine casks, creating a perfect harmony of flavors. The nose gives sweet honey, leading to a complex, peaty full-bodied palate that gives sweet peat, orange marmalade, maple, burnt sugar cane, cedar and cigar. Iwai Tradition earned a score of 92 points from the Beverage Testing Institute (2016) and the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. …
