Tormore 17 Year Old Signatory Vintage Single Malt 1990 Single Cask #913694
(TOR-mor) Tormore Distillery, established in 1958, is located in the Speyside region of Scotland. Known for producing a distinctive single malt Scotch whisky, Tormore is celebrated for its rich, fruity character with notes of apple, pear, and subtle spice. The distillery’s modern design contrasts with the traditional architecture of many Scottish distilleries, reflecting a blend of innovation and heritage in its whisky production. Tormore’s whiskies are often used in blends, including those by the Pernod Ricard-owned Chivas Brothers. The name “Tormore” derives from the Gaelic words meaning “Great Hill,” reflecting its location in the scenic Speyside landscape.
Signatory Vintage is a leading Scottish independent bottler of single malt and single grain whisky. Andrew and Brian Symington started the business in 1988, and built their own bottling plant in Edinburgh in the early 1990s.
The name derives from an idea, never implemented, to have each release endorsed by a celebrity signature. In 2002 Andrew Symington bought the Edradour distillery in Perthshire from Pernod Ricard, and all operations were moved to that location.
