Sagatiba Preciosa 23 Year Old Cachaca
Fine aroma of toasted coconut, plums and raisins, refined by a note of floral honey and vanilla. A soft, rich impression followed by a full finish. An elegant, mature spirit, perfectly balanced and with noble finesse.
Sagatiba Preciosa is a cachaça from 1982. The first 10 bottles of Sagatiba Preciosa were auctioned at the British institution Christie’s in 3 auctions in the cities of Amsterdam, London and Paris. It was the first time that cachaça was auctioned at Christie’s, and the price per bottle at that time was £550. Sagatiba Preciosa matured for 23 years in oak barrels that were brought to Brazil from Europe by Francisco Schmidt almost a century ago. Schmidt founded the first distillery in Sao Paulo in 1906. The barrels were discovered there by chance in 2004. The distillate, purified by Sagatiba according to the company’s complex technical standards, was awarded the rare Platinum award by the American Beverage Testing Institute and entered the exclusive “Superlative” category. There are only 26 spirits in this BTI category. Sagatiba Preciosa was rated 96 out of 100 possible points. Only 3,000 bottles were bottled.
