The story goes that an employee of Wild Turkey accidentally dumped rye whiskey into a tank of bourbon. They were honest with their mistake and promptly brought it to the attention of the father-and-son distilling team of Jimmy and Eddie Russell. Upon tasting it, the Russells felt it had potential. After a few tweaks, they decided on a blend of 78 percent six-year-old bourbon and 22 percent four-year-old rye. They called it Forgiven and released the first batch, 302, in 2013. A second batch, 303, followed in 2014.
